I have opened a group specifically for Eifel Harley Riders on FaceBook! If you ride America's best, please join me there...search "Eifel Harley Riders" and you'll find us.
Looking for a "Harley only" ride up the Mosel in the near future (sorry guys, but we pay a huge price for this luxury)...if interested, please join the discussion group on FB.

I will add a discussion thread for a 20% discount on HD parts in the near future...be sure to check it out.

Ride safe, ride smart, and RIDE FREE!

Chief,
First of all this is your first post and you are trying to "SELL" a Harley only ride?

I have to say big foul on your part. At least introduce your self to the rest of the forum before you try to justify an HD as being a luxury. The Eifel Riders, Green Knights has worked HARD to no be biased to one brand or another.

FYI I ride a Harley and also a member of a few European HOG Chapters and currently in Switzerland at the European HOG Rally with some fellow riders. Even European HOG Rally is even open to any and all bikes, not just Harleys. If you want to post a ride on this forum it should be open to all types of bikes.

If any other forum members agree or disagree please post below.

Brian, thanks for saying what I was thinking (and I wouldn't be surprised if others were thinking it). I find it funny that some of the bikes that people in this club ride cost a LOT more money than some of the Harley bikes (No offense intended to HD folks). People pay for what they want to ride, I know people that turn their noses up at HD over other American made bikes. Brian, you have always been cool about making other brand riders feel welcome, and I applaud you for that.

WTF!!! That is the only thing that comes to mind. If you own a Harley coz it costs a lot.... WTF?!?! Dude, I really think you need to re-think your post. AND BTW who are you??? Why don't you stop by one of our meetings, so we can at least meet? Maybe you can find some other riders that share the same passion as you do on their "cheep and not American" Bikes. Maybe you will see what every one is wondering the same as me.... WTF!?!?!?!

One more thing, since you are new around here ( anyone that has been here for longer then a year knows) there is no such thing as separating HD and other bikes here in Europe. A Biker is a Biker, no matter what they are on and we do not use Babelfish to translate things for websites. This is off of your facebook page

. All that makes no sense at all...

Jerry that rides a HONDA SHADOW and a HD Sportster and speaks german and he is also the translator for the ERGK and does not understand where the hell you are coming from with this!!!

I would have to agree with the President on this one and all of the other officers speaking up. As a Triumph Sprint ST rider, I'll ride with any type of biker, let's just ride and keep the branding to kidding only.

Oh and here.... America Best, how much longer until HD is made in India since 95% of all parts are made in different countries??

Quote:
Harley-Davidson plans product development centre in India

Harley-Davidson Motor Co. (HDMC), which opened its first three dealerships in India this month, is considering the establishment of a product development centre in the country to design motorbikes for the local market, a top executive said.

It’s also looking at opening an assembly plant in India for the iconic bikes. “Going forward, we’re going to be looking at product development at more international bases. What’s the product that customers in different countries want?” said Rod Copes, senior vice-president of international sales, marketing and business development, HDMC, and in charge of Asia Pacific, Latin America and Europe and Africa for the firm.

“This will be in the third phase of our growth strategy in India—the first two being the launch with CBUs (completely built units) and the assembling of CKDs (completely knocked down kits),” he added.

Copes said in an interview that an assembly plant is “definitely on our radar screen, but again, to set up the assembly operations, there’s got be certain volumes for it to make financial sense—and we definitely believe it’ll be over the next couple of years,” he said. The firm’s only assembly plant now is in Brazil.

Harley-Davidson bikes are now being imported into India as completely built units and sold through three outlets—one each in Delhi, Chandigarh and Hyderabad. Two more outlets are to open—in Mumbai in August and in Bangalore in September. The firm pays 80% in import duties and other levies, which would come down to 30% if the bikes are assembled in the country.

Copes didn’t disclose the number of orders received so far in India or the number of units that are to be imported this year. “The bookings have so far been a trickle as the showrooms weren’t even open yet,” said Anoop Prakash, managing director, Harley-Davidson India.

The firm plans to expand its dealer network to other regions, including Kolkata, Chennai, Jaipur, Nagpur, Indore, Pune and Gujarat. “We are looking at cities and states with strong biking cultures,” said Prakash. It also plans to launch rental services for its bikes through dealerships from the end of next year, he added.

The Milwaukee, US-based bike maker, which has launched 12 models in India priced at Rs6.95-34.95 lakh, is increasingly looking at global markets as sales growth in its home market and Japan—its largest market outside the US—continues to fall. “In 2009, our global sales were 33% of the total sales, and by 2014, we expect international sales to be 40% of the total units sold,” said Copes.

The firm has tied up with ICICI Bank Ltd to offer bike loans to customers.

Next thing is we are getting Royal Enfield Parts, eh!!!!

I also echo siggybrain and shadowrider. You may not be aware but both of these guys, and myself, have been trying VERY hard to get rid of any perception that our organization is biased toward any brand of bike. We are are NOT a Harley club. All riders are welcome here. I find it refreshing that we're seeing more variety here lately--we have sport bike riders, metric cruisers, and yes, Harleys. There are several groups that cater to H-D--local HOG chapters like FIFC, and the the Ramstein Military HOG Chapter to name a few. I encourage folks to associate with several clubs/organizations. But please don't talk down to those that choose not to ride a Harley. Not here.

Oh, and as most know, all 3 of us ride Harleys.

You must be really confused or have been drinking to much of the Harley kool-aid to even write such a statement. I will put my BMW K1200lt up against any Harley anytime and will see who comes out on top. I paid more for my BMW than you did for your Harley but I know I got twice the bike. What makes the difference what you ride anyway as long as you enjoy riding. I also bought a 2009 FATBOB for my wife and I used to own 2 other Harley's so there is nothing you can tell me that I don't already know. They are some Eifel riders that have ridden more miles in Europe than you have on your bike. There is a time and a place for your Harley only club but it sure is not on the Green Knights forum. I would very much like to see how many people rushed to join your Facebook page and how many (HARELY ONLY) rides will be organized and executed. I forgot to mention that I am the Vice President of the Eifel riders and I don't ride a Harley so I am sure I will never ride with you.

I agree with everyone else. This is a group for all riders to build friendship and comeradery. Plus were suppose to take care of our own were all family. I've learned that in my 14 yrs in Germany. Sharing experiences and site seeing together is more fun than solo. I also have two Harleys and never will deny someone a ride because it's not a Harley. I think I've said enough.
